While you can run an IoTeX Delegate node on your own hardware, we suggest using reliable service providers that provide solutions built by network experts to help you protect your node.

You can opt for a dedicated server or a VPS, just make sure you follow the for your machine. Debian Stretch Linux is the preferred Linux distribution, but other distributions such as Ubuntu 18.04 are known to work well.

Given the short block time of the IoTeX blockchain, which puts a high load on the database management part of the node software, you should pay special attention to your storage configuration. Make sure you use local (not network) disks and that they are SSD (or better NVME) with an high IOPS.

Check out the Advanced section to learn more about the best configuration for your Delegate infrastructure.
